Introducing Grace Road
Well, we've finally decided on a name for our band, Grace Road. We've been jamming on some of my songs, and last night we welcomed another singer into the group. She is also a songwriter so I'm really excited about what we'll be able to do musically! Trying to get signed up with Prisoners for Christ again to do some prison ministry.

New Church and New Band
2009 has been an active year! We left our previous church and began attending Bellevue Foursquare Church. http://www.bellevuechurch.org/
We have been welcomed with open arms there, and I've been able to join the worship band. I've been very impressed with the talent in the band, and it only helps me become a better musician. I wrote a new worship song called "I Surrender" and we're going to start working on it soon. I hope that God will bless the congregation through this new song!
This summer the sound tech from my old band, Crimson Blue, contacted me about starting up a new band. I always knew that God would open another door, and it's been 4 years since Crimson Blue disbanded. We have a drummer, a bass player, sound tech, and myself. I'm stronger on vocals than I am on guitar, so we've been putting our feelers out for guitar players. But in the meantime we've had a fun time jamming!

What I'm Listening To Now
At the Christian Musician Summit in November, I picked up Brenton Brown's new CD "Because Of Your Love" and it is fabulous! One of the songs that Brenton led in worship at the conference is the song "Adoration." What I love about this song is that it is unabashed worship for our Lord. I think this is one I'll teach to my worship team soon.

Merry Christmas!
This has been a glorious year in the name of our Savior. There have been left and right turns throughout the year, but all while He has watched over my family and provided new and unique opportunities for me to share music with others. Today we celebrate the birth of our Lord and the message his birth brings to every human being. Every day I'm amazed by the power of his love and the wisdom of His message.
Celebrate the reason for the season, and may it be joyful. God Bless!

It's Not Always The Strumming
For the last couple of weeks at church I've had the chance to dig out my flute - yes, I was a flute girl in high school! - and play with the church choir on some numbers. I admitted to myself that I was rusty but willing to use the flute as a way to help make the music of the church fuller. I can't believe the feedback I've gotten from some of the church members! One of the warmest comments came from an elderly member who said that his father played flute for him when he was a little boy, and that the sound still makes him cry.
I'm just happy that it brings joy to people. Music has the opportunity to bring happiness to so many people and being involved is nothing less than a gift from Our Creator.

Christian Musician's Summit
Wow...I'm still coming down from the high encountered at the Christian Musician's Summit that took place at Overlake Christian Church this year! For one, it was a chance to reconnect with some of past partners in music, bands and worships from other eras. In addition to rekindling the relationships and ideas that have kept me involved in music, we also heard great messages and tips from the professionals in this industry that make Christian music such a vibrant and thoroughly enjoyable venue. I now have some new tools for spreading the Lord's message to all who are willing to listen.
That, in itself, is blessing enough! CMS is an annual event, and if you're at all involved in Christian Music it's worth attending.

Danger! Equipment Failure!
Argghhh...I can't get the battery out of the EQ in my acoustic...and the battery's dead! It's stuck and I'll need to take it into Mike Lull's to get it extracted.
I guess this means I'm back to playing my trusty old school Gibson!
Blessings! Sherry
